Day 1 of locking in with Hinduism- The Vedas and Dharma overview

Good Morning. What are the vedas? Scriptures, some of the older ones. They are revealed by the gods themselves and hence why are called the Srutis. They were memorised by sages called "rishis" who wrote them down.  They are divided into 4 parts: 1. Rigveda- the earliest one. "God is one, men call him by various names" - Rigveda. 2. Samaveda 3. Yajirveda 4. Atharveda Soma ritual was important drink which rishis may have drank. Shraddha would include a prayer where priests throw a bunch of different objects into a fire. The humans give an offering/gifts and humans given blessings. Some dietas are personification. The 4 vedas are divided into parts: 1. Samhitas: hyms to gods 2. Brahmanas: Communitries that explain the deeper meaning of samhitas 3. Aryankas: Discuss the deeper meaning of ritual sacrifice 4. Upanishads: texts that discuss life, death and existance. WILLESDEN TEMPLE - A review of their 50th Utsav(celebration) and the trip in general

 Day of Inspiration: Lessons from Willesden Temple: Its is remarkable what 60-70 swamis, 1200 volunteers,  31 sub teams and 19 leaders can produce. Wow. It is rare to stumble across such opportunities like the one that I was presented with today. I'm truly grateful for the sheer amount of knowledge that was imparted on me, whether that was learning more about how Willesden temple was established or even simply the sheer respect and humbleness of the people that I encountered today. This experience was truly something else and made me realise so many things that I just simply wouldnt even have thought about if I decided not to come and go to my maths tuition instead. Wow moments: Murti with real gold framing/structure Entering the main temple and doing Darshan to such beautifully presented murtis was a really nice experience.
